It has been six months to the day since my first (ever) gallery exhibit and I had the honour… I had the most spontaneous and exciting competition arranged by Vancouver Photo Workshops and Photo Haus Gallery. One house, One model, 12 photographers, 30 minutes. A new friend photographer, Michael Cordiez a master of artistic nudes insisted that I participate. This was to be my fist nude shoot and an incredible chance to exhibit my images AND to be working on the same project as the industry’s best.
I was excited for the entire week before the competition, I could barely wait till the day and when I walked into the stunning Kerrisdale house, it was like a dream come true. The model, a sweet and gorgeous girl Mary, was easy going and relaxed, we giggled the entire time and I just knew I HAD the shots.
This was a friendly competition, I took a second runner up place for the best image, with Michal Cordiez taking the winning shot. I was incredibly honoured to be recognized and appreciated by the pro’s. I know that Nudes are mainly done in b&w but I had to use the coulour to reflect the gorgeous tones of the skin & light which would be otherwise lost. Images below were my submission and a few are still unpublished for some other time! Now I know my true calling, I felt so comfortable and most delighted afterwards.
